Welcome to the ViSE project

See the ViSE testbed portal here!

ViSE is funded by NSF as part of the GENI initiative, and is hosted at UMass-Amherst.

Overview

ViSE---a Virtualized Sensing Environment---focuses on:

  • Virtualizing access to sensors exporting rich actuation capabilities producing high-bandwidth sensor data, such as Pan-Tilt-Zoom video cameras and steerable weather radars,

  • Integrating sensor virtualization technology into GENI, an NSF initiative to create a Global Environment for Network Innovation, and
  • Operating a testbed linked to GENI that enables researchers and end-users to control a fabric of rich sensors in end-to-end GENI experiments.

ViSE is also affiliated with CASA, an NSF Engineering Research Center focused on Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere, and shares its mission to "revolutionize the way we observe, understand, and predict hazardous weather."
